The concept of an international quilting and stitchcraft event for Africa has been debated for a number of years. In 2011 a group of like-minded individuals got together and decided to make it happen. It would be an event which would bring international talent and inspiration to Africa and at the same time showcase our local talent to the rest of the world.
The first International Quilt Convention Africa was held from 27-29 July 2012 at the Emperors Palace Convention Centre in Johannesburg and was greeted with overwhelming support from quilters, fibre artists, needlecrafters and vendors from all over the world.
The venue we have chosen as home for our event is situated right next to Johannesburg's OR Tambo international airport, making it ideal for fly-in visitors who can catch a free shuttle to the venue. On-site hotels offering special rates for vendors and delegates makes it even more perfect.
